Subconscious Shower!!!

Imagine there is a house with your mind in it, with all the super great things (and sometimes not so super great things) that you think and know.  Yoga, career, family, friends, flower garden.  Whatever it is.  You’re conscious of thinking about what you’re going to make for dinner, you’re aware of loving the book you’re reading.  Now imagine there is a back room in your mind where all the things you don’t think about (a movie you watched twenty years ago, the time when you were eight that you cut your finger on a nail, principles of physics you never quite learned) and all the negative things you’ve ever said about yourself or anyone.  For all of us, this room is cluttered.  It’s full to bursting with  lost memories, fears and anxieties, and wild tangents your mind took you on that never had any basis in reality.  Sometimes the back room is so full of TRASH you can’t shut the door and it spills out into the room with your conscious mind.  You suddenly act fearful for no reason, become worried by unfounded thoughts.

It’s time to take out the trash!!!  We all need to!  Clearing the subconscious mind creates a feeling of order and calm in the conscious mind.  When you have guests over to your house, they might not know as they sit in the living room that the basement is like an episode of Hoarders, but you do!  And if you cleaned it out, you’d feel better about it :).  The energy of the entire house would shift…

There are several practices in Kundalini yoga that help clear the subconscious mind.  So Darshan Chakra Kriya is an outstanding meditation for this effect.  But if you want to add a mantra to your regimen and take out the trash while you chant, there is a mantra for that.

“Gobinday Mukanday”, also called the Guru Gaitri mantra, is a powerful tool to clear the subconscious mind and according to Yogi Bhajan, master of Kundalini yoga, clear deep-seated blocks.  He also said this mantra can balance the hemispheres of the brain and bring patience and compassion to the listener!!!

The words are easy enough to pick up and refer to different aspects of the Divine.

“Gobinday, Mukunday, Udaray, Apaaray, Hariang, Kariang, Nirnamay, Akaamay”

Sustainer, Liberator, Enlgihtener, Infinite, Destroyer, Creator, Nameless, Desireless

Chanting this mantra for 11 minutes will give the subconscious a shower and you’ll end up feeling cleaner and lighter.  Do this regularly, as trash continues to build up, and it may take awhile to clean out the room.

If you are doing it or have done it, please post and let me know your experiences!!!
